my near death experience...
now dont get too excited! here it is... i went to youth conference right? ok so we went to camp williams and all these other amazing places that i will have to tell you about some other time. anyway, so they tell us that we are going rapelling and i had already been once and hated it. the first time that i went rapelling at camp williams 4 years ago, the rapell man pushed me off the tower and i didnt like that. so i never went again, and never planned too. so we get to the tower (not the dinky fake kind, the milllion foot one they use to train the soldiers) and i was just planning on watching right, so this army man is like "who here is afraid of heights?" and lauren being her stupid self raises her hand. then the guy says "ok, you that raised your hand come with me" so some other people stand up and what not, but im refusing to do it. are you still with me? good. anyway, the man points at me and is like come on. and im like "no way sir" but if you have ever been to an army place you know not to tell them no. so i say no, and i keep saying no, and then he like basically forces me put the harness on (when the cute army man comes over i play dumb and ask for help. hahaha) They harness me all up and im already shaking and im still on the ground. i start to climb the stairs, but feel sicker and sicker with each step. so its my turn, and i tell them that im just going to have a little sit down on the steps. so i sit down while everyone is like "come on just do it" and blah blah blah. so the stake young men president is all "im doing this, and you cant be more afraid of heights than i am" but im already crying so it doesnt really make any difference. so finally i find the courage to stand back up. so i walk over the the little lady thats like half my size and she tells me that i have to do it and shes not letting back down the stairs, the only way down is on the wall. so i stand there with her for like 20 minutes while she trys to talk me into it. i FINALLY decide to turn around where you have to stand to step down onto the ledge. (thats the scariest part, because you cant see it, and your not holding onto anything but the rope.) so i step down and am like screaming and what not. so i then guess what? LAUREN RAPPELLED!!!! oh my heck it was the scariest thing that i have ever done. so i get to the bottom, and im thinking "that wasnt so bad" so what do i do? i go back to the top. but instead of going on the side with the wall i decide to do the side with out the wall. (i dont know why, seriuosly) so here we go all over again, i tell them that i cant do it, but this time im with this big man, and the other man standing there thinks it might be fun to force me off the edge. so after like half hour, i step onto the ledge (this time its even scarier than before, theres only like an inch to put your feet on.) on the side with no wall you have to lay back with your body straight until your head is under your feet so when you drop your feet you dont hit your head. and im like freaking out (you could imagine). and the guy is like "just 2 more inches, just two more inches" he said that for like a foot and a half. finally i droped my feet and went a million feet down a rope! YAY! it was pretty cool after i was on the ground. anyway, that was my near death experience. the end
