it all started a few weeks back with a stench not before known to all of man kind. we searched high and low for the source of the smell, even checking under certain roommates beds. we threw out dishrags, old socks, and sacks of potatos. but to no avail, the source of the smell was no where to be found.
one night, late in the evening, i found it. while crawling around on our dirty kitchen floor i smelled it once again, but this time much stronger than before. i pulled the pots out of one cupboard only to discover that the wood was soft and had a slightly green tint to it. with that i had an AH-HA! moment and opened up the cupboard under the sink. and there it was.
a cardboard box soaked clear through covered in the molds that only this apartment could produce. with wonderment (is that a word) in my eyes i realized that the sink was leaking. not just little leaks, but big nasty mold producing drips. placing a pan gently under the sink we called the on-call. he came, checked it out, wrote a MR and was on his way. it did its job suffeciently for the next 24 hours until we came home to find water spewing out from under the sink onto the floor. now not only was the it leaking but the whole d*** pipe had come apart
OFF WITH THE WATER! was the prognosis.
the next day, being a Saturday, the nice maintenance man came (with small child in tow) to fix our sink. and fix it he did... not very well apparently.
and now we're back to stage one with soft wood that has a nice greenish tint to it and no one who will fix it. beacause heck, theyre tairing down the place in three months anyway so why care about the residents who live there now!

isnt this a health code violation or something?

That's gross, I'm sorry. I hate the maintenance workers. The ceiling above our toilet caved in and they wouldn't come until the next day, which ended up being the next night. Then they left a huge mess and it didn't even fix anything.
Things like this make me so mad! You pay good money to live in those crappy apartments and it's wrong. Are they coming to clean the mold out? That can cause serious health problems so they need to clean it out. Seriously!
