in case you werent aware: I'm single. woah.
therefore i go to a singles ward. double woah.
its an enjoyable experience most of the time. what i dont enjoy so much is the desperation.
the young ladies in the ward (we're a very young ward) are SO desperate for attention from the boys. its getting a little bit ridiculous. seriously, youre 18. grow up a little before you move in on our few and far between "grown up" boys. enough with that rant.
anywho, the desperation has moved to a whole new level: service.
our service project this month was to serve the elders quorum. easy enough right?
it would be if it wasnt in the form of cooking them dinner and cleaning their apartment.
thats right, we were given the task of making an apartment dinner and cleaning up after another one. it wasnt even 'invite them over for dinner' it was 'take them dinner some night this week'.
really?
really.
that, to me, screams desperation.
but because we are good little girls that do as we're told we did it.
homemade pizza, breadsticks, and a giant delicious looking salad was on the menu.
dinner was scheduled to be delivered at 6:00 on the dot.
and then it was brought to our attention that they were going to be playing a little b-ball so we moved our estimated time of arrival to 7:30.
at 7: 35 we pulled the last pizza out of the oven and made our way across the frozen ice rink that we so affectionately call a parking lot to the apartment of those lucky boys.
we knocked, and knocked again. and even rang the doorbell once or twice. and no one came.
so we let ourselves in and left those lucky boys their nourishment.
thats some sort of service folks. seriously.
oh, and the boys we were supposed to clean up after thought it was weird. maybe because i had never seen the kid before. he wouldnt even let me in the apartment. fine by me.
and in other news: i miss a certain someone like, woah! i would be counting down days but i fear my heart will be ripped into 37 million little pieces. its for the better i guess.
now i must go to bed to be well rested for a butt kicking aaron is going to give me in the morning.
whats that? you want something good to watch? check this. it makes my heart smile. if only counting down the days and this little video went hand in hand.

i was never "lucky" enough to be in a singles ward- (joined the church after i was married)- but i feel your pain- i remember my girls' times in the clanker--opps!the singles -hang in there- your posts are hysterical!
It started as a service project for the Elder's Quorum then totally turned into a cry of desperation. I'm sure they loved the pizza though.
When does this certain someone come back again?
