i have a bit of a problem. quite a large one actually.
lets start by saying that if you know me (and i hope if youre reading this you know me. if not, go away) you probably know about my sleep habits. like i must sleep all the time. im ok with missing the hottest party to go to bed before 10. and im all for sleeping in. infact i plan my school schedule around my sleeping habits. and then after all that, a 2+ hour nap in the afternoon is what i need to keep me going until ten oclock when its time for bed all over again.
i love my sleep and i cant get enough of it.
but lately, i really cant get enough of it.
by 9 im exhausted so i find something to do to wear me out until i think i have a likely chance of getting into bed and promptly falling right to sleep. sometimes it takes 10 minutes sometimes it takes a couple hours. tonight it was 10:30 when i decided i had had enough. i brushed my teeth and got in bed, pulled the covers over my head and closed my eyes waiting for visions of sugar plum fairies to come.
and then i waited
and i waited somemore
i got a little hot so i stuck my foot out from under the covers
but then my foot got cold so i put it back under
and then i rolled over
then i proceded to flip my pillow over to get to the cold side
i then rearanged myself again
and moved to my side
and to my other side
and then i counted to 100
when jessica turned off the light and got in her bed i stated "i cannot sleep"
she said "i will sing you a lullabye"
so she sang the song about humming your favorite hymn
and i asked her to sing another
so she sang mary had a little lamb (all 12 verses) (shes a good roommate)
and then she told me to sing one
so i sang homeless from the forgotten carols, only i dont remember most of the words
and then i sang i cry the day that i take the tree down
she may have sang another one but i dont remember
then i got up and went to the bathroom
and got back in bed
and laid there
and laid there
and laid there
and now im sitting in the hall in the red chair
and im cold
and the clock says 1:29
and oh how i wish i could sleep
but the minute i lay (or is it lie?) down my mind starts going 983mph
thinking thinking thinking
i have been sitting her for a good two hours doing nothing
its gotten me nowhere
except for suffeciently chilled
and worried
and that much more awake
oh boy, its going to be a long night.
just like last night. and the night before that and the night before that.

That is why I started listening to books on CD. You cannot listen to exciting books, old friend books are the best, they kind of lull you to sleep and then when the CD is done it turns off and you are asleep!
LAUREN JOHNSON! I just wanted to say that. good luck with the sleep deprivation. That doesn't sound fun at all. No sirree.
Apparently it's contagious. Guess what I'm doing at the moment? Wishing I was sleeping.
