a little trip down memory lane. come along if you so please.
(WARNING: this post may include super lame gushy sentimental girl crap)
i had a dream two nights ago about a certain someone. its been causing a lot of little trips down memory lane. not only that, but the whole next day i kept seeing and hearing things that reminded me of this certain someone. would you like to hear the story? i'll tell you.
did you know that once upon a time i was a freshman at the big bad college living it up in the dorms? the dorms that included girls AND boys?!?! GASP! i know... blasphamy! anyway, my very first day there i met a boy, we'll just call him T for classification purposes only. T and i became instant best friends, as in i'll always remember him as my first best friend in college. i may or may not have had a bit of a crush on him... AND a serious crush on his roommate (we'll call the roommate L for now). can you feel the trouble in the air? but seriously, there wasnt ever any trouble. because of said very large crush on L i came around their room A LOT. like a lot a lot. and the more i got the know T and L the more i realized that while L was devilishly good looking and screamingly hillarious he was more like a gal pal. L and i would sit in my room for hours talking about boys (me) and girls (him) and the effects of having to share a bathroom with 30 other people. now on the other hand, T was this big awkward teddy bear like boy that i was falling hard and fast for. when we sat around talking it was more like awkward glances at eachother with him sharing his vast knowledge of graphic arts and music. one day he handed me a CD entitled "Lauren's Mix 09/2006" very clever, i know. i listened the the CD over and over and over. it included such songs as this:
(dont watch it, just turn it on and keep reading. its just some lame slide show someone did, not the real video)
(interuption: the morning i woke up from the dream about T, i was listening to some random playlists and this song came on. i got all twitterpated like a schoolgirl and went crazy looking for the CD he made for me. but i couldnt find it. i still cant. so if you *ahem* have a CD called "Lauren's Mix" please give it back. thank you.)
back to the story. so T gives me this CD and i go crazy listening to it and my roommate gets sick of it but puts up with it anyway. as you can imagine next a little 18 year old love blossoms and includes lots of hand holding and myspacing and flowers made out of tape. seriously. it makes me laugh hysterically now just thinking about it but at the time it made my heart skip a beat. the best part of the whole whirlwind romance was throwing pinecones at his window late at night. they locked the doors to the different halls so when one of us wanted to see the other one we had to get creative about going about it, including pine cones and some serious aiming skills.
now as most 18 year old romances do, it didnt last horribly long and the next thing i know we're supposed to still be friends but for some reason we're not talking to eachother anymore. i avoided him whenever possible, and told my roommate i threw the little tape flower away (but all along it was tucked nicely into my drawer, infact im pretty sure i still have it), stopped listening to the CD and pretended like my little heart wasnt broken. it was totally tragic then but kind of pathetic to think about now. however sometimes i still think about it and get a little sentimental over a love lost.
im not quite sure where im going with the story...
i guess it was just a little strange that i had a dream about T and then heard "the song" all in the same day. premenition? doubt it, but it was nice to reminice about a freshman romance again.
T is on a mission now and L is still hanging around the library willing to rill my elbows whenever time permits. we were supposed to have lunch yesterday but he had to work :(.
the point i have come to: i havent seen T in like 2.5 years but i still miss him some days. like today. i miss the drives up the canyon to steal a senic view and the dates to the cemetary followed by an hour of singing along to Delilah's Love Songs After Dark. what i really miss are his big teddy bear like hugs and contageous laugh.
i wrote him a letter or two but was denied any letters back. its a tragedy but i'll get over it someday. it seems to be a pattern in my missionary writing endevours. and if you have my CD, would you please give it back? thanks
