{just those little things}

in a previous post i mentioned i was smitten. maybe you would like to know why, maybe not. either way im going to tell you.

smitten -- adjective
1. struck, as with a hard blow.
2. grievously or disastrously stricken or afflicted.
3. very much in love.

although i often feel like i need to smite a certain someone, today i choose to focus more on number three: very much in love.

here is what has me smitten:
  • my bed
  • clean sheets
  • pink nail polish
  • sparkles
  • medical tape
  • round brushes
  • playlists
  • pink gogs
  • pull bouys
  • light bulbs
  • wonder t's
  • magnetic poetry
  • straight irons
  • thursday night tv
  • baking bread
  • playdo
  • showering
  • prewrap
  • diet mt dew
  • dance breaks
  • a boy we'll call Frank

so tell me, what has you smitten these days?

{a fruit bowl of thoughts}

tomorrow is my good friends birthday. in honor of her birth i made her this:

my second ever fondant cake, i think it turned out pretty good. dont you? dont tell anyone but there is a surprise inside (as in funfeti and sprinkles).
do you want one? i could make one for you as long as there is payment involved. i do take payment in the form of a piece of the cake.

and moving on to more important things:

you know when you want something so bad that you would do anything to get it? but then you dont think youre going to get it so you decide that you dont really want it and turn around and will do anything not to get it... and then you do get it... whats with that? and what do i do about it?

but the most important topic of the night:

i am smitten

that is all. goodnight.

{shoe love}

today was full of shopping galore
lots and lots of shopping
it's probably my second most favorite thing to do
especially shoe shopping
boy howdy, that is a fun time
and if you could see the shoe collection i have you would understand...

today while we were shoe shopping i had a total flash back of my past 5 years of shoe buying
while thinking back i came to the realization that i go through serious shoe phases
i'll enlighten you on such things

during the middle of my high school years i did the hard core skater shoe:
i wore some ugly shoes back in the day. like way ugly. i mean, i have a ton of weird shoes now, but the things i wore on my feet back then were ugly ugly. however, there are two pairs i still have. they are very comfy and easy and non squishy when my toes are tired of being squished.

the next phase started just out of high school and lasted most of the way through my freshman year of college. it was the slip on phase:

this is where we really should start talking about ugly shoes. i had the green corderoy, camo, skull, random color, everything you can dream of slip on. even the classic black and white checks. they were pretty rad. i still have them all somewhere, i just dont really wear them a whole lot because they dont match anything. and they arent that comfy.

during the slip on phase i also took a dip into the shallow end of the converse pool:

i have pink (see above) and silver. not grey, silver. it's my life goal to acquire a pair of every color made. in case you dont know, thats a whole lot. today while we were shopping a saw a pair that reminded me of a grey and black pair megan and i saw once in park city back in the day. i really really wanted them but decided that i didnt need them so i walked out of that store and never looked back. to this day those shoes still haunt me. i think about them probably once a week but cant find the same pair anywhere. its tragic.

towards the end of the slip on/converse phase i did the heel thing:
it was more about the wedges than the true biz heel for me. i bought and bought and bought wedges for like 6 months straight. that adds up to a whole lot of wedges. i dont know why i bought them all the time because i generally only wear heels on the sabath day. i think they were a good investment, except when i cant find anything to wear on sunday morning because i cant decide what shoes to wear.

somewhere in the mix between the converse and wedge phase i did a stint with the cowgirl boots:
the boot phase didnt last too long and i got out of it with only one pair. one pair that i love so much that when the heel broke i (read: my dad) paid big bucks to get them fixed so i could keep on struttin' my stuff. i even dedicated a post to them back in the day. i would link it but im too lazy. take my word for it that it was a pretty killer post.

the last few years have been dedicated to the flat:
flats are hearty shoes. they are good for everything, and i do mean everything. i especially love my hot pink with a flower on the toe flats, they are ever so cute. i also like the lose weaved white leather flats my mom bought me in san jorge during one of the many many shopping trips we have had (and im sure there will be more). when i graduated in may i got a new pair of gold flats to wear with my pretty red dress. and then there are the standard black flats that every girl should own. they are just too fab not to.

the newest phase is that of the athletic shoe variety

i have only recently (read: last month or so) taken up wearing the athletic type shoe on a regular basis. i think they are fab. they are just so comfy and offer the perfect amount of style and support without going overboard. since this newest phase has just started i dont have too many pairs of nikes. if you wanted to get me some i would not decline you that privlege (i REALLY want a pair of pumas, so go ahead and get me those ones). you can betcher bottom that i'll have more soon enough, because one cannot live with just a few pairs of their favorite type of shoe.

my favorite shoe will always and forever be the Chaco:
i would go into detail about why i love these bad boys but it would take much too long. lets just say that im working on making toe covers so that i can wear my chacos in the winter. they are that fabulous. oh i love them so much. i cant wait until it gets warm enough to wear my beloved chacos once again.

so, whats your favorite type of shoes?
and dont you love the Discovery Health channel? i sure do

{1.2.3.4.5.6.7.8}

everyone say hello to my new boyfriend, mr. Billy Blanks himself.

we've been seeing eachother for about 3 days now (thats A LONG TIME relationship if you ask the boy that lives across the way) and things are going just swimingly if i do say so myself. we were limiting our time together to just a good half hour or so but things have progressed and we're getting pretty serious. i just cant say no when he tells me to dig deep into my heart and soul. he's a true romantic. he even likes my new shoes which is always a plus. and he is always complimenting me on how hard i am working on our relationship. the only flaw in the relationship is that he has some tramp always standing next to him counting "1 2 3 4 5 6 and 7 and 8" when he's getting his groove on. its becoming very troubelsom to me. my new goal, to show my love and admiration for him and our relationship, is to be the hottie standing by his side counting away while he taeboes other fat people into shape.

there seems to be a snag in my plan though, im the fat one he's currently trying to taeboe into shape. do you think he really wants a fat girl friend? i hope so, but i doubt it. my desire to keep on being his main woman in this apartment has lead me to a major increase in fiber intake and taeboe output. and so far, so good. we'll see the results of this weeks efforts come monday morning (i have fought the urge to jump on the scale more than once a week). they better be big or Billy is going to have some problems to deal with.

im TOTALLY going to be sexy by the end of this year, sexy enough to be Donalds arm candy just as i predicted. or maybe i should change that to Billy...

{lets take a trip}

a little trip down memory lane. come along if you so please.
(WARNING: this post may include super lame gushy sentimental girl crap)

i had a dream two nights ago about a certain someone. its been causing a lot of little trips down memory lane. not only that, but the whole next day i kept seeing and hearing things that reminded me of this certain someone. would you like to hear the story? i'll tell you.

did you know that once upon a time i was a freshman at the big bad college living it up in the dorms? the dorms that included girls AND boys?!?! GASP! i know... blasphamy! anyway, my very first day there i met a boy, we'll just call him T for classification purposes only. T and i became instant best friends, as in i'll always remember him as my first best friend in college. i may or may not have had a bit of a crush on him... AND a serious crush on his roommate (we'll call the roommate L for now). can you feel the trouble in the air? but seriously, there wasnt ever any trouble. because of said very large crush on L i came around their room A LOT. like a lot a lot. and the more i got the know T and L the more i realized that while L was devilishly good looking and screamingly hillarious he was more like a gal pal. L and i would sit in my room for hours talking about boys (me) and girls (him) and the effects of having to share a bathroom with 30 other people. now on the other hand, T was this big awkward teddy bear like boy that i was falling hard and fast for. when we sat around talking it was more like awkward glances at eachother with him sharing his vast knowledge of graphic arts and music. one day he handed me a CD entitled "Lauren's Mix 09/2006" very clever, i know. i listened the the CD over and over and over. it included such songs as this:

(dont watch it, just turn it on and keep reading. its just some lame slide show someone did, not the real video)

(interuption: the morning i woke up from the dream about T, i was listening to some random playlists and this song came on. i got all twitterpated like a schoolgirl and went crazy looking for the CD he made for me. but i couldnt find it. i still cant. so if you *ahem* have a CD called "Lauren's Mix" please give it back. thank you.)

back to the story. so T gives me this CD and i go crazy listening to it and my roommate gets sick of it but puts up with it anyway. as you can imagine next a little 18 year old love blossoms and includes lots of hand holding and myspacing and flowers made out of tape. seriously. it makes me laugh hysterically now just thinking about it but at the time it made my heart skip a beat. the best part of the whole whirlwind romance was throwing pinecones at his window late at night. they locked the doors to the different halls so when one of us wanted to see the other one we had to get creative about going about it, including pine cones and some serious aiming skills.

now as most 18 year old romances do, it didnt last horribly long and the next thing i know we're supposed to still be friends but for some reason we're not talking to eachother anymore. i avoided him whenever possible, and told my roommate i threw the little tape flower away (but all along it was tucked nicely into my drawer, infact im pretty sure i still have it), stopped listening to the CD and pretended like my little heart wasnt broken. it was totally tragic then but kind of pathetic to think about now. however sometimes i still think about it and get a little sentimental over a love lost.

im not quite sure where im going with the story...

i guess it was just a little strange that i had a dream about T and then heard "the song" all in the same day. premenition? doubt it, but it was nice to reminice about a freshman romance again.

T is on a mission now and L is still hanging around the library willing to rill my elbows whenever time permits. we were supposed to have lunch yesterday but he had to work :(.

the point i have come to: i havent seen T in like 2.5 years but i still miss him some days. like today. i miss the drives up the canyon to steal a senic view and the dates to the cemetary followed by an hour of singing along to Delilah's Love Songs After Dark. what i really miss are his big teddy bear like hugs and contageous laugh.

i wrote him a letter or two but was denied any letters back. its a tragedy but i'll get over it someday. it seems to be a pattern in my missionary writing endevours. and if you have my CD, would you please give it back? thanks
